What is the 13th European Nutrition Conference?
This conference, through the Federation of European Nutrition Societies, brings together its affiliated societies represented throughout Europe in October 2019. The conference takes place every 4 years and is the premier European meeting in its field attracting over 2,500 delegates, not only from the 26 affiliated European countries, but from a global platform with over 50 other countries represented, as well as from a range of related partner groups and societies at European and international level.
The theme for the Conference is “Malnutrition in an Obese World: European Perspectives”. The scientific programme will feature the very best international speakers and a wide programme of subject areas across the spectrum of Nutritional Science in plenary and parallel session formats.

Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS)
The Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) is a non-profit Federation consisting of European Nutrition societies each representing one country.
FENS was established for public benefit to advance research and education in the science of Nutrition on the European level. It supports regional and European wide initiatives regarding translation of science into practice and international collaboration. Further, FENS is representing the Nutrition Societies in the European Institutions and promotes the importance of Nutrition for public health in Europe.
The main FENS event is the European Nutrition Conference, arranged every 4 years. The last event (12th European Nutrition Conference) was held in Berlin 20 – 23 October 2015. Dublin plays hosts to the 13th European Nutrition Conference, which will take place in the Convention Centre Dublin in October 2019. At each conference, a new FENS board is elected by the member societies, which will govern until the next conference.
The Nutrition Society
The Nutrition Society in cooperation with the Irish Section of the Nutrition Society are hosts of the 13th Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) European Nutrition Conference (or referred to as FENS 2019).
As an affiliated country society of FENS, the Nutrition Society represents members throughout the UK and Ireland. The Society was established in 1941 and is a not for profit organisation, and one of the largest learned societies in the world dedicated to advancing nutritional science. The Society disseminates nutritional science and research through five peer reviewed journals, academic textbooks, scientific conferences, training workshops, presenting awards for excellence in the field of nutrition research, and offering grants to support members. Membership is open to anyone across the world with an interest in the science of human or animal nutrition.
